Pool heaters extend the time your family can enjoy the pool.  In our climate in Ontario it’s necessary to have a pool heater.  As far as options there are:

  1. Gas
  2. Heat Pump
  3. Solar

  • Gas will give you quick heat however operationally speaking is the most costly.
  • Heat Pumps run like an air conditioner.  They use the outside air to heat the water.  They are a bit slower to heat the water however about 1/2 the cost to operate.
  • Solar – very little costs to operate.  Works great as long as the sun is shining.

Personally I like the heat pump.  It’s what I put on my pool.  Essentially you set the temperature and forget it.

Gas can be very convenient but sometimes people don’t leave them on because of the cost and therefore are really shooting themselves in the foot.  Pick a temperature and leave it.

When you are heating a pool in the Spring and Fall it’s important to use a solar blanket or liquid solar because you want to ensure you keep the heat in the pool.

When you see steam coming off the pool, that’s evaporation.  Don’t be alarmed if you have to top the water up more frequently in the Spring and Fall.

We would be happy to provide a quote and any of the heating options.
