Maintaining your pool and equipment is critical in keeping your water looking awesome. One of the most important components to clear water is proper maintenance of your sand filter.
Sand filters essentially contain a bed of silica sand (special sand) which removes particulate and debris from the sand as the water drains through gravity and returns to the pool via the outlet pipe.
Having a functioning pressure gauge to advise when it’s time to backwash is important as this is a guide for you to reference periodically and backwash as needed to remove debris.
What most people don’t realize is that the sand in the filter should be changed every 5 years or so. Contact your local pool professional for advise or to book a time to do this.
Also noteworthy is that you should learn what the different functions on for the value. Stay tuned as we will share this in an additional post.
